DIY Lavender & Flax Seed Moisturizer

View this post on Instagram

You’re not going to want to miss out on this DIY😍🧖🏼‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Today I made my own version of the classic flax seed gel and I’m pretty sure it’s the best thing ever! My normal face moisturizer routine usually consists of me slapping a BUNCH of oils on my face and calling it good. The more oily my skin feels, the better! However, lots of people do not like their skin to feel super oily. If you’re one of those people, this DIY is for you! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝕀𝕟𝕘𝕣𝕖𝕕𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ▫️1/4 cup flax seeds⁣⁣ ▫️1/2-2 cups water, depending on how thin you want your moisturizer to be ⁣⁣ ◽️3 Tbsp organic, unrefined coconut oil⁣⁣ ▫️3 squirts lavender oil (mine came out fast so they weren’t really drops)⁣⁣ ▫️1 Tbsp lavender (for steeping) ⁣⁣ ▫️1 Tbsp rosemary (for steeping)⁣⁣ ▫️ 1 Tbsp vitamin E oil ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ All together, this moisturizer cost me around $2-3, maybe even less!🤷🏼‍♀️😱 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ℍ𝕠𝕨 𝕥𝕠 𝕄𝕒𝕜𝕖: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1. Boil water.⁣⁣ 2. Add flax to the boiling water and let it return to a boil. Turn temperature down to medium/high heat and stir gently to prevent flax from sticking. (Keep an eye on your pot because expanding bubbles=big mess if unattended)⁣⁣ 3. Add rosemary and lavender to pot. Continue to stir every 20-30 seconds. ⁣⁣ 4. Once you notice the mixture is getting thicker and more gelatinous, turn the temperature down. This took about 10 minutes on my stove. (If you feel like you have too much water, pour a little out.) ⁣⁣ 5. Take pot off stove. Mix in coconut oil until melted.⁣⁣ 6. Add lavender oil and vitamin E oil and mix until thoroughly combined. ⁣⁣ 7. Pour mixture into any type of fabric that doesn’t have large holes in it. (I used a reusable tea bag) ⁣⁣ 8. Check to make sure product is cooled down, so you don’t burn yourself, and squeeze as much of the gel out as you can. ⁣⁣ 9. Put gel in an airtight container and store in the fridge. This product will stay good for 1-3 weeks.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Use morning and night just like any other moisturizer. It feels wonderful and cool on your skin since it is always in the fridge. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you have any allergies to the above ingredients, you can substitute for your favorite ones. There are so many different combos you can make!…⬇️
